10AM-4PM each day with a break for lunch which is BYOL (bring your own lunch) but drinks and some sides will be provided

Discover how to transform pigments, ground from minerals, into a variety of artist paints. Usage and different types of binders will be discussed. We will also make natural ink, vine charcoal, and make paint brushes from plant fibers. 

Workshop to be held inside and partially outside. Dress appropriately.

Ken Koons was a staff photojournalist for 37 years. He has garnered praise and numerous awards for his photographs, videos and creative projects. In addition to his documentary work, Ken is a respected builder of musical instruments and teaches traditional carpentry, blacksmithing methods, and making and using natural pigments.

He also is a professional musician, regularly performing traditional Celtic and Nordic acoustic music. He and his wife built their log house and tend organic gardens at their central Maryland home.
